Qi Gong For City Dwellers

Join Benny Spott for a Qi Gong practice at Sound Mind. If you have some experience, or are interested to learn, this for you. The practice will involve a moderately rigorous standing set of postures as well as some meditation and gentle flow. One way to translate Qigong is “energy cultivation”. Qigong encompasses a wide body of practices that encourage vital force to flow by way of movement, breath and intention. Through Qigong practice we learn to be present with the subtle sensations and find stillness in the mind. Meridians, with their associated organs and elements, inform us about our temperament, the seasons, illness, the time of day and even specific tastes and smells. Through mindful practice of Qigong we can tonify our energy, increase vitality and stay grounded to the earth and aligned with the heavens. Qigong is typically a standing practice, but there are ways it can be adapted to seated and laying positions.
